In this episode we were being optimistic about the weather in September, shooting on a blustery snow day, was fun and a great opportunity for Nicole to stay inside and send Patrick out to look for the bus stop.
Our third instalment of the NextGen Vlog series took us to 124st where we visited the new store Glasses Half Full (GHF), located at 10625 124 St, this store may seem like any other place to get your eyewear and eyecare but once inside you’ll see how different it is. From glasses sourced exclusively from small manufacturers and independent designers around the world to a full service coffee bar to enjoy while you wait and shop. No need to be worried about how to access the store, there are 6 parking stalls in the back of the building, plenty of street parking and if you catch the bus the #5 is right outside their door.
The owners Michael and Krista bring in their love for the local community into the space, by supporting local charities with events for Suit Yourself and Dogs with Wings. They also work with an NGO out of Switzerland to run their Pair for a Pair program which provides sustainable glasses to various developing nations. GHF donates the cost of a pairs worth of glasses for every pair sold in store.
We were really excited to see the cost of the glasses weren’t over the top, at GHF they believe in cost simplicity and price all of their prescription optical glasses as all in one packages for basic lenses. But wait…. there’s more they are also one of the few offices in Edmonton that fits custom contact lenses.
We had a lot of fun visiting the team at GHF and trying on all the glasses and contact lenses we could, they even have a great selection for kids. Patrick was sure to throw in some puns along the way, and Nicole ignored him as the cold brew was a good distraction.
GHF is open Tuesday - Saturday, you can check them out at www.glasseshalffull.com
In this series we will be visiting local restaurants and businesses throughout Edmonton and sharing our experience with you through video and written content. We will focus on accessibility, atmosphere and affordability, we will leave the reviews to you and just share what we learn.
