NextGen Month Kick-off Event Recap
On June 4th, citizens of Edmonton gathered on a rainy Wednesday evening at Latitude 53 for the Kick-off event for NextGen Month. Here is a quick recap of the night’s events.
The event began with mingling of guests , will some tasty snack bite treats being served. An engagement wall was in place for people to get their picture taken of what they enjoy most about Edmonton. Some answers included #yegdt and Don Iveson.
United 1ne (that is a one, not an l), a local b-boy crew formed in Edmonton, performed some break-dancing to the wowed audience. From their website:
United 1ne is a group of competitive individuals with distinct and amazing skills. They are a group of dancers dedicated to showing the positive aspects of hip hop trying to break the stereotypes one funky step at a time.
After a break allowing for more mingling, Councillor Andrew Knack gave a talk about the importance of NextGen and preparing the floor for Mayor Don Iveson. After a few words, Mayor Iveson made the proclamation for June as NextGen Month for Edmonton with an amusing accent. According this his Twitter:
it’s a ‘Mid-Atlantic’ accent actually. Think Kelsey Grammer.
This event was just the beginning of a packed schedule for June from NextGen. We hope to see you out at the events!
